Rideau Chorale, founded in 2015, is an auditioned community choir that welcomes people with a variety of musical backgrounds, for the joy of singing challenging works together. Our goal is to stage professional quality concerts, with the accompaniment of professional musicians, drawing on classical, sacred, and other genres. We continually strive to push the boundaries of what an amateur ensemble is capable of by developing choristers’ musical talents such as sight-reading and vocal performance. Rehearsals are held weekly at Southminster United Church in Old Ottawa South, and at least two major concerts are performed each year. Our repertoire has included Carl Orff’s Carmina Burana, Handel’s Messiah, and Mozart’s Requiem among other amazing works.
